The mural depicts three characters from Goiás folklore: the masked figures from the Cavalhadas of Pirenópolis (the man and the ox, from left to right) and the clown from the Folia de Reis on the far right. Traditionally, wearing masks was a way for the poorer classes to take part in the festivities, since only the elite were permitted to do so.
In this mural, the masked figures use the same device to infiltrate the urban landscape and claim their right to the city.
